If I were a boy. (pic heavy)

This past week has been a rather boyish one for me. Come to think of it, I was actually always comfortable with being and acting like a tomboy since I was little (thanks to growing up with my brother who I have always seen as a role model and the countless of anime and video games where I wished to be the male leads). Don't get me wrong, I love the girly style too and well, I am definitely a girl, but I do honestly feel that with my weird-ass personality, boyish fits in well with me.

I was always envious of the girls with slender arms and legs with feminine hands (*cough cough, like Monica*) and even though I'm short in height, I lack in slender features. T_____T

Well, I've been told I'd make a pretty boy. There was also one time in Japan when I wasn't even intentionally dressing up boyish, another Japanese male called me an ikemen. It's good to know I'd at least make an attractive boy. :3

OOTD & Makkuro Makkuro pop-up shop

serious face~

IT WAS SO HOT IN HAWAII TODAY! It reached up to the 90's (Fahrenheit) which we're not too used to in Hawaii, it's usually just in the high 80's. Today Monica and I went to visit and support our friend who participated in a pop-up shop called Makkuro Makkuro.

OOTD 7.12 (ft. pinksugarichigo)

Janis being cute and me with my 2NE1 pose bwa haha.

Decided to do a quick outfit of the day post featuring Janis! We were just running errands so our outfits are pretty casual (well, mine is anyway. Janis is always glamourous!) Did our outfit shots and then we switched clothes towards the end. It was... interesting. This post focuses mainly on my outfit (sorry, you're gonna have to ask Janis yourself if you're wondering where she got her stuff!).

FEEL ENJOY in JAPAN day two

December 29, 2011

The day after their arrival to Kyoto, I decided to take these two on their first shopping adventure! Being that Kyoto isn't like the major cities such as Tokyo or Osaka, there are only 2 main shopping areas. I luckily live right in the middle within walking distance of these two areas.

I first brought them to Shijo and Sanjo where they had the major stores and malls like OPA, Loft, Round 1, among others.

Coordinate Post 8/22

necklace: given to me by a friend
bracelets: Charlotte Russe
tiger face leotard: Forever 21
wig: given to me by a friend

long trousers: Retro Girl
shoes: Urban Outfitters
bag: given to me by a friend

Back when I used to work at Charlotte Russe, I always made it a point to layer accessories upon accessories and since coming to Japan, haven't had much time to dress as nice as I did in Hawaii. I would have thought it would have been the opposite but I think because I walk and ride my bike everywhere I don't have the motivation to dress that nice or risk my skirt flying up while riding my bike. But I wanted to channel a bit of how I used to dress back at home through the layers of bracelets I'm wearing (^___^).

I've also been wearing the 2 wigs I have a lot recently. I really don't like my hair at this point and in attempts to resist cutting it (as always) I've been putting my wigs to good use ;) I'm thinking of getting a short one next!

Today's Coordinate 8/17

Simple outfit. Just went to the movies with a friend! Girls get discounts every Wednesday at the movies ;) I also decided to wear my wig <3
Cardigan: Uniqlo
heart print tunic: Charlotte Russe
leggings: 3coins
yellow wedges: (forgot the store name, somewhere in kyoto)
purse: given to me by a friend

Unfortunately since it's SUPER humid & hot here in Kyoto, I've broken out with rashes in various places on my body. One of those places happen to be around my mouth :( so for now, I wear a mask. It's slowly but surely healing! It's a good thing wearing a mask is not out of the ordinary here :)

For each girl it's 1000yen

Waiting with our tickets!

Purikura after the movie~

Making a quick post from my phone!

Trying out these overnight hair curlers I got at the 100 yen store! I feel like Chun-Li lol.

What I had for lunch today! It's time to change my diet! I couldn't resist buying the bread roll though. It was so delicious and freshly baked too!!

Also from the 100yen store! First time trying out nail stickers. I'll post a more detailed review on them later. I think I'm going to get addicted to these nail stickers!

Round 1, 北の家族、三井Outlet Park

Friday 17th
Getting ready to leave for a friend's birthday! It was a night of bowling at Round 1 and then drinking the night away at a nearby izakaya called Kita no Kazoku (北の家族). This is what I wore for the occasion!
Top: Forever 21
Shorts: g.u.
Knee Highs: Doll Kiss
Shoes: Uniqlo
Bag: (bought at a thrift store)
Lashes: 100 yen store

First stop was bowling at Round 1 in Shijo (四条), Kyoto. Shijo is pretty much the shopping/entertainment district in Kyoto. At Round 1 there are floors of various entertainment like arcades, purikura, UFO catcher machines, etc. You can even play sports like baseball, bowling, golf or darts. More info about Round 1 here.
The bowling balls look like basketballs!

One of my friends. He's really good at bowling, nearly every time it was his turn he would get a strike. I suck so much at bowling!! Last time I bowled was with Monica in Tokyo and my score was a 13 T_____T. This night, he showed me some pointers and look what I ended with...
That's me! Letter 'D'!!! Yay! Haha!

Afterwards, we all received a ticket for a free try at the UFO catchers.

I won!!!! :D

Then it was off to the izakaya~
Many pics from that time but I'll just leave you with a pic from the end of the night~

Saturday 18th
The next day I went with two of my friends to Shiga-ken where there is a shopping outlet mall called "Mitsui Outlet Park". It really reminded me of shopping malls in Hawaii. It pretty much resembled Ala Moana.
It's about an hour commute from where I live by train and bus. It was really rainy that day but that didn't stop us!
What I wore despite the rain!

top: Charlotte Russe
white tube top: g.u.
shorts: Forever 21
boots: ABC Mart
watch: 3 coins

Heading to Kyoto Station!

Bought our tickets and waiting to board the train~

At the mall food court ~
For lunch, we had some hayashi rice!

Afterwards, headed back to Kyoto Station
to get some crepes at Crepe Ojisan and take purikura
I had the month's special: Matcha Parfait!

Our purikura :) Oh, the top right purikura, it says Kana(かな)instead of my real name. Japanese people have a hard time pronouncing my name so I told them to give me a nick name and that is what my friends suggested. It's funny because that's the 2nd time someone suggested that name! I guess it was meant to be.

Now the weekend is over and it's back to school. Here's a pic one of my classmates took of us sleeping during our class 15 minute break. We were all really sleeping. I even remember snoring hahaha. That's me where the blue name indicates (ジュヴィ).

hahahaha :)

How was everyone's weekend?

New hair

New hair (same style as before but a little different). It's time to start fresh.

January 13, 2011

My Top Picks from ViVi (2/2011)

What I've noticed for this month's trends:

✦ lots of knits! ...oversized ones!
✧ neutral colors. some occasional splashes of colors here and there. Don't be afraid to mix your browns with blacks! You don't know how many times I hear that it doesn't match. I personally always loved it. Just do it :) They are both neutral colors! Black matches with everything, right ;) ?
✦ knee high and ankle socks. **I think this only works depending on body type & the way you wear it to compliment your body type. But I'll go into that later.**
✧ Oxford shoes and wedges! I've always been a fan of oxford shoes and wedges, so it's nice to finally see oxfords in the Japanese fashion scene.
✦ Argyl, checkered and leopard prints
✧ Light, fresh makeup

✦✧ REMEMBER: These are my own opinions, so if you don't agree with anything don't bash me with hateful comments, they'll just be deleted. My opinions are based off of personal experiences and observations. Your opinions matter to me at the same time, so if you disagree that's fine! Let me know your opinions too :) ✦✧

scans from jmagazinescans <--- thank you!

I don't really have much to say for this but I just wanted to share the differences. "カラフル (colorful) Tokyo VS モノトーン (monotone) Kobe". I guess that's a good sign for me because my closet is full of monotone "colors" (lol) and I'll be in the Kansai area in about a month! I love how they added a splash of color with the red bags! I totally would do that.
Personally, I'm not loving the checkered mini skirts. I think it's tacky :\ What do you guys think?

BIG KNIT SWEATERS! ❤ I'm in love with that comfortable look! A nice big sweater and leggings or stockings.  Very VERY simple but so おしゃれ (oshare: trendy) at the same time! *referring to the bottom right* For choosing shoes to go with this coordinate: If you opt for flats, I'd stay away from round toe flats! Flats with a point (not too much point!) will bring the look together. Heels and wedges are good! I don't know how I feel about knee high boots I think it would be a bit much. Ankle boots would work better in my opinion.

Love the middle coordinate and the coordinate to the right! Tucked in tops are a big trend now also. For girls with more curves, a waist belt will help bring everything together! I love love love mixing blazers with shorts!

LOVE the top left coordi! And the one next to it (grey sweater)

KNEE HIGHS! I adore knee highs and ankle socks! But there are rules I think girls should follow! I myself am a petite curvy girl so I do know that my thighs are a bit on the larger side and also I have shorter shins. For girls with shorter legs: PLEASE DO pull the knee highs PAST your knees! It will give the illusion of a longer leg! Stopping the socks below your knee will just make your short legs look even shorter. Shoes play a HUGE part also! STAY AWAY from wearing knee highs with FLATS. A heel will bring this look together! If you're not  comfortable with wearing flats, get a flat with a pointed toe (again, not too pointy). The pointed toe will help give the illusion of a longer leg as well :)

Bloomer shorts: love! I'll own a pair one day! The shoes are love too, but I'm not sure how I feel about a chunky heel. I've seen chunky heels emerge ever since the summer of 2010 but I still don't know how I feel about them. I guess being short (and personally trying chunky shoes myself) I realized it does nothing to help my appearance. My legs are thick and short, so by wearing a heel that is also thick and short (or tall), it does nothing to enhance. I would have gone with a skinnier (not too skinny!) heel or wedges.

Fresh makeup!
I agree with these "Beauty Best 3":
"Cat eyeliner", "bright lip" and "nude eye x pink cheeks"
Freshfaced with a touch of makeup here and there is a DEFINITE MUST for this month's trend. Especially with all the prints going on and the heavy knits you'll be wearing, the last thing you need is a fully caked on face to clash with everything! Also, it shows a classier you. It's also a perfect symbol for a fresh start to this new year!

❥ Lastly, THANK YOU TO ALL MY NEW FOLLOWERS! You guys are awesome and I hope my blog will be useful and entertaining for you :) ❤
