wants & inspirations.

... Just a few.

NOTE TO SELF part 2

NOTE TO SELF (062310)
  1. Buy a new (cute yet practical) planner. Yeah, I sort of have a thing for planners. I often buy a lot of them, use them for a good amount of time and then without finishing it up, buy another one. It's my life's mission to actually complete a planner to the last page!
  2. Re-dye my roots. I guess I'll save this for when Janis comes back to Hawaii or when Fall 2010 starts.
  3. Garage Sale. This is a must. Ebay was working fine so far, but I'm gonna try my luck at doing a garage sale.
  4. SAVE, SAVE, SAVE. That's always on the agenda but hard to practice. I really need to though.
  5. 日本語勉強する!!I really need to brush up on my Japanese. Btw, anyone know of any good Japanese bands/singers/songs I could listen to? I really need to immerse myself. (Sorry Beatles, I need to give you a rest for a bit...although that's probably not gonna happen).
  6. Keep up with a good diet. So far so good. Haven't checked my weight lately, but I'm fitting into my clothes a lot better.
  7. Draw more. I had a passion for drawing but it's so hard to find the time to relax and draw my life away.
  8. WASH MY CAR. It's been how long already...more than a couple of months! Yikes! AND my car is white. :[
  9. Blog more. I feel like when I blog, a bit of stress is lifted from me. I feel like typing what I feel at the moment or typing what I want to type about helps organize my thoughts.
  10. Enjoying my life while I can. Giving love and having fun with my family, boyfriend, friends and myself.

NOTE TO SELF.

So, me and Janis are skyping and we start talking about possible blogspot usernames. Names that deal with fashion.

I'm debating whether I want to change from 'oalimay' to 'fassionfruit' (haha yes like passionfruit). I originally wanted to change it to FASHIONFRUIT but that name is taken by someone who doesn't even blog. What a waste. I wanted a name that someone can easily say "Did you see the new post from FASHIONFRUIT?" or something. Something people can easily remember.

Don't get me wrong, I like having 'oalimay', it's a very personable username because it's basically my last name spelled backwards (for those of you wondering what the hell it means).

What do you guys think? FASSIONFRUIT.BLOGSPOT.COM

Janis and I also started making up FASHIONPOO (Janis and I call each other 'poo'. It's our nickname for each other). Knowing us, we usually talk up a storm and let our imagination run wild. We start joking about one thing and then it becomes a huge story and we end with "wait, how did we start talking about this again?" *bursts into laughter*.

When we started talking about FASHIONPOO.BLOGSPOT.COM, we came up with this as our motto:

EAT FASHION. POO FASHION. (Because you try things and if it doesn't work, then...poo)

then she came up with this as an idea for a photoshoot for the banner:

"There should be a picture of you trying to eat clothes on a plate, with a fork and knife in hand. salivating, your next outfit or some shoes on a plate with a pendant on top for the topping or somethign white.. and then like a fruit pendant on top make it look like desesert and you're about to eat it with a glass of pearls" - Janis

(p.s. yes there are typos in that quote but I'm keeping it that way because you can see how excited and hilarious this was for us)

i'll walk you everyday, whether rain, wind, sun. SO PLEASE HURRY HOME! :)

Omg this song is sooo adorable. I love love love the lyrics!! Makes me think of my dogs hehe. Cowboy Bebop is one of my boyfriend's favorite anime of all time. The seiyuu that's singing is the seiyuu for Ed. This song is so relaxing too. :) I also think it's neat how she sings in French in the second half.

Birthday Wishlist

My birthday is coming up next month (July 8) and I usually don't really ask for anything. This time though I do have a wishlist. It's not much, I only have like 2 main items I really want.

1. DSLR
Recently, my friend Monica purchased a super stylish compact SLR called the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1 (in white).

It's so retrofully beautiful! I love the simplicity of it. I've always wanted an SLR but the bulkyness and heaviness of one would often turn me off. So thank you Monica for doing the research for me :P hehehehehe! The only problem is that the white one is currently only being sold in Japan, so the menu language is in Japanese (They have it in Europe but there's a 30minute time-limit in movie mode). I guess it won't bother me too much since I'm currently majoring in Japanese ANYWAY lol. (Which reminds me, I really need to get a move on on studying!)

I looked at another option, the Olympus PEN EP1 (in white).

Pretty much the same specs as the GF1. I was about to go for this one because currently, Shirokiya is having a sale on this camera for around $560. I did my research on both cameras and I was gonna go with the PEN when I found ONE flaw...it takes such a long time focusing. UGH! That, and also the menu is harsh to the eyes (well to mine anyway). Okay so I guess that's two flaws haha. The GF1 menu is so light and airy, it's really easy to follow and reader friendly.

The thing I really like about these 2 cameras though is that they are modeled after pinhole cameras circa 1959.

I spent hours and hours watching comparison videos, reading comparison articles and just staring at the cameras side by side. The verdict? The GF1.

2. Chanel Black 2.55 Flap Bag

Yes yes yes, I've always wanted a Chanel bag. I doubt I'll get it this birthday, but I thought I'd just keep adding to any wishlist of mine. Whats there to explain? This is a classic. A must in every girl's wardrobe.

3. Casio Ex-word xd-sp6600 (pink or white)

This of course will benefit more than anything else on my wishlist. I'm not too familiar with what's a good Japanese Dictionary. I've tried a pocket dictionary (cheaper!) and it works well but the time I spend flipping through pages to find what I need is a little irritating. I've tried iPhone apps too, and it does work really well for me but it drains my battery. My friend Monica (once again) actually has one of these so I'm gonna stick with what I'm familiar since I'm a noob in this area.

4. The Beatles LP 'Rubber Soul'

I've been collecting records and I've been on the lookout for this record at my local thrift record shops but no luck. Actually, any Beatles LP other than the ones I already have is on my wishlist! I know I can just get this and others on eBay, but finding it on my own at a thrift store gives me such a satisfaction, it's exciting!

Blood Type O & Zodiac Sign Cancer

Blood Type O - Type O's are outgoing, energetic and very social. They are the most flexible of the blood types. They easily start up projects but often have trouble following through because they give up easily. Creative and popular, they love to be the center of attention and appear very self confident. Type O, the most "average" blood type, is considered the best type in Japan.

[Type O - The Warrior]
Trendsetter, loyal, passionate,
self-confident, independent, ambitious, vain and jealous.

Famous O's include: Queen Elizabeth II, John Lennon, Elvis Presley, Liam & Noel Gallagher and Paul Newman. (I bet you can guess the only Famous O that strikes me is John Lennon).

Although I agree with what my blood type personality is, I think a few of the traits are wrong, but could it be because it clashes with the personality of a Cancer?

Zodiac Sign - Cancer (June 21 - July 22)

The fourth sign of the zodiac is Cancer and it is represented by the crab. Appropriately enough, Cancerians can seem easygoing, sympathetic, and patient one minute, then cranky and irritable the next. Because of this ability to make a sudden change, Cancer is the least predictable of all signs. They are ruled by the moon and have water as their element, so their mood swings can be compared to the turbulence of the shifting tides. If they feel they need to, they will retreat to their own emotional shell to keep others out. However, Cancerians can be very sympathetic to others and readily show their affection. Cancerians are also very emotional and sensitive, which may be why they are so empathetic towards others.
Cancerians need a lot of attention due to their unpredictable character, but if you give them the support they need, they will offer you their undying loyalty and love. Once you have won their trust, nothing anyone else can say will sway them against you.
----------
I'd say me being a Cancer is right on the money...and actually being Blood Type O too. As for me being self confident for Blood Type O, I'd say to a certain extent. I think that's where the Cancer personality kicks in. I love the rush and thrill of being the center of attention and doing what I want to do, but when it gets close to 'show time', I want to hide in my...shell. Even though I end up feeling that way, I do go through what I set out to do...or die trying.
The same goes for being independent. I actually wish I'd be more independent. I try to be but I feel that no one takes me serious sometimes. Especially my family. Maybe it's the curse of being the "baby" of the family.
What blood type and/or zodiac sign are you?

Double Fantasy

I'm gonna try and post items that I collect or that are in my room and write a small review on it. Many who know me, know that I'm a huge Beatles fan as well as a huge John Lennon fan. (Beatles fans: recognize the "Beatles for Sale" photo in the back?) Anyway, I've been collecting records and photo books (not only of Beatles, though majority of my record & photo book collection are Beatles.)

Let's start with John Lennon's last album before his tragic death, Double Fantasy. Infamously pictured kissing Yoko Ono. When I was young I remembered this picture, I could recognize it off the bat.

Here's the track listing:
1 (Just Like) Starting Over
2 Every Man Has A Woman Who Loves Him
3 Cleanup Time
4 I'm Losing You
5 I'm Moving On
6 Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy)
7 Watching The Wheels
8 I'm Your Angel
9 Dear Yoko
10 Beautiful Boys
11 Kiss Kiss Kiss
12 Woman
13 Hard Times Are Over

I have a lot of favorites from this LP. From John Lennon's Elvis-esque vocals & sound on "(Just Like) Starting Over" to Yoko Ono's electronica, avant-garde, orgasm-reaching "Kiss Kiss Kiss". This LP has everything. Beautiful love ballads like "Woman", cute touching songs that can make you cry like "Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy)", a song he wrote to his son, Sean Lennon.

It's a tragic shame that John Lennon isn't here today. I still cry about it. He was such a creative genius. There will never be no other like him. RIP.

I hope you guys check it out :)

New circle lenses & shoes

Got my new dollfront circle lenses the other day. So far I have the Nudy Quarter series in Golden blue and this time I ordered the Angel color series in Angel Brown. I wanted something more 'natural' this time. Something I can wear that's not toooooo dramatic, like my nudy quarter ones.

Lol, I don't normally open my eyes this wide, but for the sake of the picture...

I also got my new wedges!!!!!! At work there's employee appreciation so we get 50% off! These are 25.50, but I got them for a sweet 12.75! I love them. So comfortable and lightweight! I wore them to work the next day :)

Bucca Di Peppo

Went out on our traditional “friday date” with the boyfriend. Just went window-shopping (because I’m broke) and then ate at Bucca Di Peppo. That was actually my first time eating there and I enjoyed it.
We usually go to Ala Moana or Waikiki but we wanted to try Kahala Mall...we ended up not going. I looked at the shop directory online ahead of time (even though I don't have any money to spend anyway) and there wasn't much there that interested us, so we ended up going to Ward. I haven't been there in a while so I thought it was a good idea. We walked around a little, went to stores like Nordstrom Rack and In4mation. Jacques (my boyfriend) had quite the debate with himself about buying shoes (ended up not buying anything). Got hungry and decided to eat at Bucca Di Peppo. As I said earlier, it was my first time and I enjoyed it. We went during downtime so that was good. Pricey, but worth it for the portions and not to mention delicious! I ordered the Spicy Chicken Rigatoni and Jac ordered the Lasagna (mmmmmmm). appetizer was the Seafood Trio, which by the was sooo sooo good (even though sometimes I get allergic to seafood). We were SO SO full afterwards, we didn't even finish our food. Then again, that's always the case with me with my food.
I must warn you though, Bucca Di Peppo was sooo heavy in my stomach I felt full through out the rest of the day until this morning. I kinda wanted to throw it all up. Now I feel like I'm good for a WEEK. LOL. I feel like I don't have to eat anything until the week is over! That's how heavy the food is.

I finally got to use my purse! I love it :) the back slot is so so so convenient!

the boyfriend and his ciggy. boo.

lots of decor.

Whenever I see old photos of women, I always think to myself "I wonder how long it took for a woman in those days to get ready?" I mean look at them! With their hair, makeup n all.
